Bodmin in the Bodmin Taxis area is the largest town in northern Cornwall with a population of approx 13,000. The Bodmin Taxis area is full of history and Bodmin  is full of places to see and enjoy. Mentioned in the doomsday book the name Bodmin is thought to be derived from the Cornish ‘bod’ meaning dwelling and ‘meneghi’ meaning monks.

Bodmin boasts the largest parish church in Cornwall – St Petrocs. Having been rebuilt in the 14th century it is right in the centre of the town and is said to house the remains of St Petroc. A holy well dedicated to St Petroc is situated in the valley close to the church and is easily visited using Bodmin Taxis.

It is on the famous Camel Trail which is a traffic free 12 mile track for walking and cycling and stretches from Bodmin along the River Camel past Wadebridge to Padstow; again easy to get to in Bodmin Taxis.

Bodmin Moor has its own atmosphere and has its own collection of standing stones, wild ponies and birds of prey. There is also the tale of the Beast of Bodmin. Many people have alleged that they have seen a leopard like creature which in the past has been blamed for the slaying of some livestock. Despite an official investigation which was not conclusive there are still sightings on a fairly regular basis. Why not explore the area using Bodmin Taxis; ask about the touring rate available from most Bodmin Taxis.

For those interested in archaeology Castle Canyke – a large Iron age Hill Fort – can be found on the south eastern outskirts of the town. There are also a number of ancient stone crosses which include several Wheel Headed Boundary crosses.
