Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is LastMinuteCabs.com?

A. LastMinuteCabs.com is a revolutionary new way of using the free space in taxis returning or going on long journeys.

Q. How does it work?

A. LastMinuteCabs.com is essentially an auction site. Taxis or passengers list their journey and it is then bid on (or bought straight away).

Q. How do I pay the taxi?

A. You do not pay the taxi. You pay LastMinuteCabs.com and we pay the taxi once they have picked you up and completed the job.

Q. What stops a taxi from not turning up?

A. We do not pay the taxi until you have completed your journey. Additionally, we ask you to leave feedback on a taxi after every journey, this ensures we are kept abreast of the level of service registered taxis are offering our passengers.

Q. What is a PayCode?

A. PayCodes are how we ensure a taxi has completed a journey and we can pay them. When an auction ends, the passenger is asked to create a PayCode. At the end of their journey, they give this PayCode to the taxi driver who can then redeem it on LastMinuteCabs.com for their payment.

Q. What is a reverse auction?

A. A reverse auction is very similar to a traditional auction except that bidding occurs backwards, i.e. the starting price is high and the bids get incrementally lower.  This allows passengers to post jobs and get as low a price as possible.
